Editorial Reviews

Product Description

Originally Release 2001, First new album in 3 years from the Belgium danceact.

Anybody who might think of the people of Belgium as repressed would do well to check out the Lords of Acid. On Farstucker the band continue to do what they do best: a sort of aural erotica with a beat you can dance to, if you can keep from cracking up while you do it. That's because one of the things that saves the Lords from tedium is the sense that they don't take themselves too seriously (the track "I Like It" begins with the narrator's discovery that her boyfriend likes to wear her clothes). If you're already a Lords fan, you know that this is one of their milder offerings--no matter how graphic their recordings, these are nothing compared to their live shows. There's also a fair bit of musical invention here and there behind the techno beats and the explicit vocals of Deborah Ostrega extolling the considerable virtues of sex, drugs, and rock amp; roll (mostly sex). With Farstucker, the Lords prove that they have lost neither their outrageousness nor their sense of humor--and that they could teach other bands in a similar vein, such as My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult or the Genitorturers, a thing or two about both. --Genevieve Williams
