This is a rare December 4th, 1953 program (playbill) from the from the Goodman Theatre production of the PHILIP BARRY play "THE PHILADELPHIA STORY" at the Kenneth Sawyer Goodman Memorial Theatre at the Art Institute of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. (The Original Broadway production opened March 28th, 1939 at the Sam S. Shubert Theatre in New York City and ran for 417 performances.) ..... The play starred twenty year-old GWYDA DONHOWE (twelve years before she would make her Broadway debut) and ANN EGGERT, alternating in the role of "Tracy Lord" and featured BARBARA SHER, DALE REMLER, MILDRED SHELTON, JACKIE KERR, RICHARD F. STEVENS, DIANE DARVAS, J. A. CERVENKA III, MARY ELLEN "M'el" DOWD (four years before she would make her Broadway debut), CARLA BEYER, BOB COOPER, MICHAEL WESTFIELD, PAUL MUELLER, LAURENCE COLEMAN and EDWARD WYATT ..... Side note: On January 15th, 1988, producer NORMAN KEAN ("Oh! Calcutta!") murdered his wife, GWYDA DONHOWE as she lay sleeping, then jumped to his death from the roof of their New York apartment on Riverside Drive ..... CONDITION: With the exception of light creasing and minor edge wear, this rare playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
